Frequently Asked Questions
Do you accept insurance?
I am not an in-network provider, but many clients are able to get some reimbursement through their out-of-network benefits. I’ll provide you with a monthly superbill to submit to your insurance company.
How can I find out if I have out-of-network coverage for psychotherapy?
To check your out-of-network benefits, contact your insurance provider by calling the Member Services number on the back of your insurance card. Many insurers also offer Live Chat support on their websites.
When you reach out, ask the following questions:
Does my plan include out-of-network benefits for psychotherapy?
If so, let them know the billing codes that may apply: 90791 for the initial intake session, 90834 for a 45-minute individual session, and/or 90847 for couples therapy. What percentage of the session fee is reimbursed?
Some plans cover a percentage of the total fee - for example, 60%. That means that if the session fee is $250, they would reimburse $150 per session. Is there a maximum allowed amount (fee cap) for reimbursement?
For instance, your plan might reimburse 60% of a fee up to $200 - in that case, you'd get $120 back, even if the session costs more. What is my out-of-network deductible?
This is the amount you need to pay out-of-pocket before your insurance starts reimbursing. It can range from a few hundred to several thousand dollars. How much of my out-of-network deductible have I already met?
For example, if your deductible is $1,000 and you’ve already spent $500, you’d need to spend another $500 before reimbursement begins. What is my policy period?
This helps you know when your deductible resets - usually it’s the calendar year, but some plans follow a different 12-month cycle. How do I submit claims for reimbursement, and how long do I have to do so?
Ask whether you’ll need to submit claims yourself, what documentation is required, and the deadline for submitting.
How much does therapy cost?
Fees will be discussed on a free consultation call. Schedule a call here.
What is your cancellation policy?
Sessions must be canceled or rescheduled at least 48 hours in advance of our session time. If you need to cancel within 48 hours, you will be responsible for paying the full session fee.
How long and how often are sessions?
Individual sessions are 45 minutes, while couples sessions are 55 minutes. Sessions are weekly unless we determine together that a different cadence makes sense for you.
